Our extra-curricular highlights
Public speaking
Public Speaking at Claymore Public School helps students build confidence, clarity, and creativity in expressing their ideas. Through school competitions and class presentations, students develop strong communication skills that support success in all areas of learning.
Dance
Our Performing Arts program proudly showcases student talent, including a dedicated group that performs at the annual Southern Stars event. We also offer separate Aboriginal, Islander, and Indian dance groups, providing all students with opportunities to celebrate culture and express themselves through movement.
Drumming Group
Our drumming group brings energy and rhythm to every performance, practicing island-inspired beats that celebrate culture and connection. They proudly represent our school by performing at local events and other schools, sharing their passion for music with the wider community.
Sport
Sport plays an important role in building teamwork, confidence, and school pride. Students have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of sporting activities, including PSSA gala days, athletics, and cross-country carnivals. Our talented athletes also proudly represent the school and our zone at district and regional levels, demonstrating sportsmanship, determination, and a strong sense of community spirit.
Leadership
Students at our school are encouraged to take on a variety of leadership roles that build confidence and responsibility. Opportunities include becoming school leaders, sports captains, and members of the Student Representative Council (SRC), allowing students to develop their voice and contribute to the school community in meaningful ways.
Personal Interest Groups
Every fortnight, students take part in Personal Interest Groups, where they explore new skills and passions in a fun, hands-on way. These groups run for a semester and allow students to connect with others who share similar interests while learning something new beyond the regular classroom program.
Excursions and Incursions
Excursions and incursions provide exciting, hands-on learning experiences that extend beyond the classroom. Students enjoy exploring new places and participating in engaging activities at school, helping them connect their learning to the real world while building curiosity, independence, and a love of discovery.
